One very important piece is missing from the "blame Bush" theory... Government agencies of various kinds were pressuring banks into making those risky loans in the name of “racial equality”. Not wanting to be on the wrong end of lawsuits, the banks did as they were told. These agencies were and still are controlled by progressives who claimed everything was fine even after the Bush administration tried to blow the whistle.

So it is important to note that the banks had The Community Reinvestment Act and affirmative action in lending to contend with. You know… SOCIAL JUSTICE
