So many people gathered together with a common goal - Tell our elected officials that we the people are tired of being lied to and we will vote you out of office!

What an amazing day. First, there was a rally at Freedom Plaza, then the march down Pennsylvania Ave and finally the rally in front of the US Capitol. There were people from all over the country. Some came by bus, some by plane and a lot of folks drove across the country, by themselves, because they felt compelled to participate. Many folks said they could no longer remain silent as our government strays from the Constitution and participating in the march was the first time they had ever protested.

Contrary to the mass media’s recent reportings, this event had NOTHING to do with race. I personally spoke to hundreds of people and none of them made any negative remarks about our President’s skin color or race. People that make those claims of racism either don’t “get it” or they realize there is no logical way to support their view point so they attempt to take focus away from the topic of discussion by attacking the opposition. This tactic is an ad hominem fallacy.

As far as the number of attendees… it was definitely in the hundreds of thousands and possibly one million plus. The Sequestered News slide-show you see below does not give the best depiction of the size of the gathering because most of the photos were taken in the morning. Several people that evening said they had family and friends that never made it to the rally because they were still stuck on the buses. Regardless of the size, a statement was made.

The atmosphere was incredible. All of us united for the same cause and it did not matter if you were a Republican, a Democrat or an Independent. And yes, both parties and Independents were there. I can’t tell you how many times I had to reprimand people for using manners! This was without a doubt the most crowded event I have been in the middle of, yet everyone was so polite and eager to clean up after themselves. Unlike the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and past events, the US Capitol lawn was spotless after the crowd dispersed. Not even an empty water bottle could be found in the grass and all of the discarded protest signs were neatly stacked around the trash receptacles.

The time-lapse video below gives a pretty good feel for the size of the crowd but it does not show the study influx of people on the neighboring streets:

C-SPAN was the only news organization that captured the event. In general, the media coverage was pathetic and all of the newspapers and news broadcasts (including Fox News) grossly underestimated the size of the crowd. The video below is the C-SPAN broadcast of the US Capitol Rally:
